Neck bands and saggy jowl area are one of the most common complaints as the ageing process begins to take effect: The neck bands are mainly caused by the over activity of the muscles in this area stretching from the jawline down to the chest area. One of the simplest ways to treat the Platysma bands in the neck area is to inject the area with a muscle relaxant such as Dysport or Botox. The muscle relaxant causes paralyses the muscle and stops it from working: it blocks a chemical called acetylcholine which is what triggers the muscle to contract and eventually cause dynamic wrinkles.
Injecting into the upper platysma bands and the jowl area can have the effect of lifting the muscle which is often referred to as the Nefertiti Lift. When performed by a skilled injector this can be very effective.
Process
The process of injecting a muscle relaxant into the neck area is generally proceeded with a consultation to determine the amount and exact areas of the platysma bands which are to be treated. Pain or continuing redness in the area is not normal and should be directed back to a doctor as soon as possible.
As a filler product is absorbed by the body over a course of time it can depend on the individuals metabolism as to how long the filler lasts but as a general guide this is between 6-18 months.
